Capt. Dan Jones – missionary to Wales


To celebrate the bi-centennial year of the birth of Capt. Dan Jones, the well known missionary to Wales, the L. Tom Perry Special Collections of the Brigham Young University Library is hosting an exhibition of many of his writings and publications. (Special Collections is located on the first lower level of the Library). The exhibit displays a selection of Jones’s printed pamphlets and periodicals published in the Welsh language during the decade 1846 to 1855. The exhibit can be viewed during Special Collections working hours (Monday – Thursday: 8:00 a.m. – 9:00 p.m. *closed Tuesdays 10:45 a.m.-12 noon for University Devotional; Friday: 8:00 a.m. – 6:00 p.m.; Saturday: 10:00 a.m. – 6:00 p.m.; Sunday: closed) during the entire month of February 2010.

In conjunction with the exhibit, on Wednesday evening, February 17, at 7:00 p.m., in room 1130 HBLL of the Library, Dr. Ronald D. Dennis will give a presentation about the life and missions of Dan Jones, his great-great grandfather. All are invited to this free event.

Dr. Dennis has published five books about Welsh Mormons through the Brigham Young University Religious Studies Center. Digital copies of these are all available on the Harold B.
