Movie Review | Chungking Express

An interwoven tale of love and passion in Hong Kong. Chungking Express (PN 1995.97 .C3 H66cho 2004) takes multiple stories of heartbreak and finding love and throws them together in a myriad of film mastery. All the stories revolve around a certain restaurant called Midnight Express that is frequented by the protagonists and connects them all. Chungking Express is a fresh look on romantic comedy with different stories and colorful characters that come together beautifully

I gave this film 3 out of 5 stars because while the characters are interesting and hook you at the beginning of the film, their overall interactions leave much to be desired. Each seems lost in their own world and while it’s a story about love, their reactions and acting seem so robotic while dealing with other characters. In my opinion, a film about love should make you feel something which this film does not.
