Delicacies of Molten Horror Synapse

Film Review by Dean Duncan Jun 18, 2015

Brakhage stated that this is an hypnagogic vision, or equivalent: what we might see or experience as we move from wakefulness to sleep. In this case, while we’re watching television! Quite resembles Norman McLaren’s historic Begone Dull Care, without the benefit of Oscar Peterson’s astounding piano accompaniment giving shape and direction to the image. This makes for a whole lot of abstraction rushing by! The last fleeting images are very striking, as Brakhage’s intent or concept suggests they would be.
