7 Days 7 Pages Unites People During the Pope’s Visit

SJB Case

BYU’s Harold B. Lee Library is joining the national event 7 Days, 7 Pages. Beginning on Monday, September 21, the day before Pope Francis begins his historic visit to the United States, all institutions with The Saint John’s Bible have been invited to turn a page a day for seven days. The Harold B. Lee Library is the only institution in Utah with a set of these remarkable books.

Genesis Square

The Saint John’s Bible is the first handwritten bible of the modern era. Produced by Donald Jackson, the Queen of England’s Calligrapher, who led a team of illustrators and calligraphers, the seven-volume work marks the turn of the millennium for its sponsoring organization, Saint John’s University in Collegeville, Minnesota. Generous donors helped BYU’s Lee Library acquire a Heritage Edition of the work, a full-size fine press edition hand bound in leather. The library traditionally displays a volume in the entrance to the L. Tom Perry Special Collections.

II Kings

The goal of the 7 Pages, 7 Days program is to bring together people across the country through the simple act of displaying the same pages by churches, schools, libraries, hospitals and homes; spending time with the beautiful images and words; and reflecting on the rich symbols of Christian unity.

The page-turning schedule is as follows:

Monday, September 21 Creation (Pentateuch volume – Genesis 1)

Tuesday, September 22 Abraham and Sarah  (Pentateuch volume – Genesis 15 and 17)

Wednesday, September 23 Ten Commandments  (Pentateuch volume – Exodus 20)

Thursday, September 24 Peter’s Confession (Gospels & Acts volume – Matthew 16)

Friday, September 25 Multiplication of the Loaves and Fishes (Gospels & Acts volume – Mark 6)

Saturday, September 26 Two Cures (Gospels & Acts volume – Mark 5)

Monday, September 28 Pentecost (Gospels & Acts volume – Acts 1)
